I Turned ON All Ubuntu Telemetry.

I  did something today that will make certain corners of the internet audibly gasp. I didn’t disable telemetry. I didn’t firewall it. I didn’t put on a tinfoil hat and boot into a Faraday cage. No. I installed every Ubuntu data-donation tool and opted in manually like a lunatic with intent. Yes. Telemetry. On. All of it. Step 1: Installing the “evil” telemetry tool First, I installed Ubuntu’s main data-donation package: sudo apt update sudo apt install ubuntu-report Then I looked at the data it collects: ubuntu-report And what did I see? CPU model GPU model RAM size Screen resolution Oh no. My computer… exists . Step 2: Opting in aggressively Not satisfied with a passive existence, I explicitly told Ubuntu: ubuntu-report -f send yes That’s right. Not “ask me later” . Not “maybe” . YES. SEND IT. Somewhere, a Canonical server blinked awake like: “Another one has chosen… participation.” Step 3: Package usage stats (aka “He installed VLC”) Next up:...

Steam Link on Meta Quest 2

Steam Link is an application developed by Valve that enables you to stream your Steam games from your computer to other devices. Originally designed for streaming to TVs and mobile devices, its compatibility with VR, specifically the Meta Quest 2, is a game-changer.

The Meta Quest 2, formerly known as Oculus Quest 2, is a standalone VR headset. It's celebrated for its high-resolution display, intuitive controls, and a vast library of VR content. But when combined with Steam Link, its capabilities expand exponentially, bridging the gap between standalone VR experiences and PC gaming libraries.

Setting Up Steam Link on Meta Quest 2:

Ensure your PC runs Steam and has a solid Wi-Fi connection. The Meta Quest 2 should also be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

On your Quest 2, go to the Oculus Store and install the Steam Link app.

Open the Steam Link app on your Quest 2 and follow the instructions to connect it to your PC. This usually involves entering a code displayed on your Quest 2 into Steam on your PC.

Customize your streaming settings for optimal performance. This might involve some trial and error to find the right balance between visual quality and latency.

Once connected, you can access your Steam library through your Meta Quest 2 and start playing.

A strong, stable Wi-Fi connection is crucial. Consider using a 5 GHz network and positioning your router close to your play area.

The better your PC specs, the smoother your gaming experience will be. Ensure your PC meets the requirements for VR gaming.

While the Quest 2 controllers are great for VR, some Steam games play better with traditional gamepads or keyboard and mouse setups.
